Alixandra Moyer was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 25, 1990. She was immediately placed in the foster care system due to the fact that her biological mother was incarcerated for drug-related charges several months prior. Because Ali’s biological mom was in jail, she was immediately placed in the foster care system. Ali, originally born as Danelle Harrison, met Elizabeth Moyer at a hospital in Philadelphia at five days old. The Moyer family decided to care for Ali since she was considered an ‘at risk’ infant and Elizabeth had extensive knowledge in medical and emergency care due to her nursing career.

Elizabeth and Harry Moyer were foster parents for nine years prior to Ali’s placement with the Moyer family. Ali was the last foster child the Moyer’s would accept because of the stress of feeling the uncertainty of how the children fared after being taken to a different home after their care for two to three years. Ali was only expected to remain in the Moyer home for a few weeks before transitioning back with a biological family member. However, the Lord works in mysterious ways.

Ali continued to live with the Moyer family (Elizabeth [mother], Harry [father], David [brother], Andre [brother] and Harth [brother]) for the duration of her childhood in Lebanon, Pennsylvania from 1990-1998. On July 29, 1996, Ali was adopted in Philadelphia, granted by Judge Esther Sylvester. The family continues to recognize and celebrate the “Adoption Birthday” each year as a heartwarming reminder of how she completed the Moyer family.

Ali has a Master’s of Education degree in Training and Development from Penn State Harrisburg in 2017. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from Penn State University in 2012. Her career field is in marketing and communications, but has special interests in organizational development; training and leadership; and diversity, equity and inclusion.
